Insight as discovery
On what turned out to be an unexpectedly busy day, we submitted two manuscripts: one assessing how insight problem solving proceeds through a non linear progress of discovery and one describing the eye movements and behaviours of people looking at a 2000 year old pot. As seems to be our way now, both papers take a detailed look at the people's behaviour and go beyond measuring aggregate statistics.
We also heard that the first paper (of many hopefully) to come out of Wendy's PhD had been published. The open access version can be found here and there is also a version under out resources page.
The paper looks at how people make words from movable letter tiles and the extent to which the words are generated through linear planning and the extent to which they are a reflection of environment moves.
